NFL week 16 Picks and Previews for every Game
Saturday, Dec 23, 2017 – NFL week 16 Picks
Indianapolis Colts vs. Baltimore Ravens
Balitmore is in the hunt for the playoffs, but currently sit just outside the wild card positions. Indianapolis shouldn't pose a major threat to upset the Ravens at home. The Colts are in the cellar of the AFC South. Baltimore needs another solid defensive performance to make the postseason; or at least to have a shot at qualifying in week 17.
Minnesota Vikings vs. Green Bay Packers
The Green Bay Packers are out of the playoff picture after last weekend's 31-24 loss to the Carolina Panthers. In the end, there was no need for the team to rush quarterback Aaron Rodgers back from injury. He threw three interceptions during the game and looked rusty. He did toss three touchdowns, but the team may have played better under Brett Hundley. Minnesota has won the division and qualified for the postseason. Case Keenum threw two touchdowns against the hapless Bengals in week 15. Expect the Vikings to continue their strong regular season run for the NFL week 16 picks.
Sunday, Dec 24, 2017 – NFL week 16 Picks
Detroit Lions vs. Cincinnati Bengals
The Bengals gave up last weekend against Minnesota. Cincinnati's defense was awful and the team's offense couldn't gt the running game going again. Detroit still has a chance to make the playoffs, but must win in NFL week 16 and 17. The Lions are just outside the final wild card spot.
Miami Dolphins vs. Kansas City Chiefs
Just when you thought the Kansas City Chiefs were down and out, the team pulls off a huge win against AFC west rivals Los Angeles. The Chiefs now own their own destiny. If the team continues to win, it will make the NFL playoffs. But a loss to Miami will open the door for the Chargers. Miami is 2-5 on the road, and going to a cold Kansas City shouldn't help the Fish.
Buffalo Bills vs. New England Patriots
New England got a huge win against Pittsburgh last weekend. However, the Pats did it in controversial style. It seems this happens all the time with Tom Brady's team?. The Pats have won the AFC East and own the joint-best record in the conference. Buffalo needs to win to stay in the wild card positions, but a trip to their archrivals won't be easy. The last time these two teams met, New England thrashed the Bills 23-3.
Cleveland Browns vs. Chicago Bears
What a Christmas treat for the fans of both teams. Cleveland could end its losing streak against the Bears and pick up the team's first win of the year. Three of the Bears four wins have come against non-conference teams, including wins over AFC Central teams Cincinnati and Baltimore. Can Cleveland change that trend?.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Carolina Panthers
Carolina Panthers are almost as good as in the playoffs. At 10-4, the Panthers have the first wild card spot. If results go Carolina's way, a win and a New Orleans loss, the Panthers could be in first in the NFC South by the end of the weekend. Cam Newton is coming off of a four-touchdown performance against the Packers. Don't expect him to let up now.
Atlanta Falcons vs. New Orleans Saints
Atlanta Falcons defeated New Orleans in week 14. Now, the two NFC South rivals will clash in week 16 with even more at stake. New Orleans leads the south and the Falcons are the second wild card team. The outcome of the game will completely change the playoff picture. The last time these sides met, Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan threw three interceptions. Atlanta somehow won the game. New Orleans defense will be out to stop Ryan completely this time around and get redemption.
Denver Broncos vs. Washington Redskins
There will be no playoffs for the Denver Broncos or Washington Redskins this season. The Broncos have improved greatly in the last two weeks. The team has won twice, but it came far too late to make a run at the postseason. The Broncos are without starting quarterback Trevor Siemian after he suffered a dislocated shoulder in week 15. Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins tossed two touchdowns last weekend and a home win will be a Christmas present to the Redskins faithful.
Los Angeles Rams vs. Tennessee Titans
A Los Angeles Rams win means the team qualifies for the postseason. A loss in Tennessee and the chances of the postseason will need to wait a week; unless other teams lose in NFL week 16. The Titans are in the wild card places for now. Tennessee has lost two straight games and against the NFC, the team is 1-2. Los Angeles is a perfect 3-0 against the NFC. Could the Titans playoff hopes die in NFL week 16?.
Prediction: Los Angeles Rams
Los Angeles Chargers vs. New York Jets
The Los Angeles Chargers were their own worst enemy against the Chiefs a week ago. Philip Rivers threw three interceptions as the Chargers fell on the road. The Chargers are 4-6 against the AFC. The Jets are 5-5 in the conference and own a 4-3 home record. The Chargers need a big performance in New York to keep playoff hope alive.
Prediction: New York Jets
Jacksonville Jaguars vs. San Francisco 49ers
Someone break up the San Francisco 49ers. The team has won three straight games. Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo threw for 381 yards in week 15 as the 49ers defeated Tennessee. Jacksonville will be an entirely different task, however. Jags quarterback Blake Bortles has thrown seven touchdowns in the last three NFL weeks. He has done more than ‘good enough', he has been a super star. Jacksonville has clinched a playoff berth and a win this weekend will wrap up the AFC South title, too.
Seattle Seahawks vs. Dallas Cowboys
The biggest talking point ahead of Seattle's trip to Dallas is the return of Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliot. The rusher is back from suspension, and his return could be what puts the Cowboys in the NFC playoffs. There is the chance the Cowboys could win their last two games and still miss the postseason. Dallas has won three straight games without Elliot. Just imagine what it does with Elliot back. Seattle is also chasing a playoff spot, but two consecutive losses has this team trending downward.
New York Giants vs. Arizona Cardinals
The New York Giants gave the Philadelphia Eagles a real scare in week 15. The Giants scored 29 points on the strength of Eli Manning's 434 yards and three touchdowns. Are the Giants capable of doing it again or was Manning's performance down to a bad Eagles defense?. The Giants are 0-10 against the conference and have won just once on the road. Arizona Cardinals are still unsure of their starting quarterback situation and Drew Stanton will get the start against New York. There is no stability under center for the Cards. Can the Giants win in Arizona?.
Prediction: Arizona Cardinals
Monday, Dec 25, 2017 – NFL week 16 Picks
Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Houston Texans
The Steelers can clinch a first round playoff bye with a win against Houston. The Texans have lost four straight games and are already looking to next season. Pittsburgh played well against the Pats last weekend, but still lost. Ben Roethlisberger will be looking for revenge in NFL week 16 against Houston. Expect Big Ben to put together a solid outing.
Oakland Raiders vs. Philadelphia Eagles
The Philadelphia Eagles defense gave up 29 points to the New York Giants last weekend. Despite the team putting up 34 points, the Eagles didn't look like the team it was with Carson Wentz as quarterback. Back up Nick Foles played well enough. He tossed four touchdowns in the win. The Eagles should beat Oakland at home, but the team need to play better defensively to go far in the postseason. Because the AFC West isn't good this season, the Oakland Raiders could still make the playoffs. However, the Eagles should end any playoff hope the Raiders have in NFL week 16.
