NFL Week 10 Review
If you escaped your survivor pool after Week 10, either you’re a genius, your lucky, or both. The dogs took over the pound in Week 10.
The New Orleans Saints looked like Super Bowl contenders for sure after Drew Brees lit up the Arizona Cardinals in Week 9. Heading into a showdown with the rival Atlanta Falcons, what was there not to like? The Saints were loaded on both sides of the ball. The Georgia Birds were 1-7 straight up. New Orleans was a justifiable -14 favorite. There aren’t many of those in the NFL.
“Not so”, said the ATL. Atlanta dominated the Saints 26-9. How? Andrus Peat, one of those New Orleans’ stud offensive linemen left the game early. Terron Armstead, New Orleans left tackle, played, but he played after a sickness. The Falcons sacked Brees 6 times.
The Saints weren’t the only sure-thing that fell. The Chiefs failed to capitalize on Patrick Mahomes' first game after an injury by blowing a 5-point lead against the Titans with less than 2minutes in the game. KC lost 32-35 as a -6 road fave. More dollars backed KC than any other
NFL team in Week 10.
The Rams looked atrocious in a 12-17 loss to the Steelers. The Rams were -4 ½ point favorites. Miami, yes, the Miami Dolphins, won their second straight over Indianapolis.
The Colts were -11 favorites. They fell 16-12.
Dallas lost on the moneyline to the Vikings as a -3 favorite.
The Giants lost 24-34 to the Jets as a -2 ½ chalk.
The Chargers were only 1-point favorites. But, they lost to the Raiders 24-26. Oh, and on Monday night, the Seattle Seahawks beat the San Francisco 49ers 27-24 in the best game so far this season.
The Niners were -6 favorites.
All told, only 3 favorites covered the spread: Baltimore over Cincinnati 49-13, Chicago over Detroit 20-13, and Green Bay 24-16 versus Carolina. Chalk bettors got hit hard. Dog backers got fed.
Let’s get to Week 11!
NFL Week 11 Picks
Thursday, Nov. 11
Pittsburgh Steelers vs Cleveland Browns -2 ½
Pittsburgh held the Rams’ offense in check. They should have no trouble holding the Browns’ offense in check. If the odds stay where they are, consider a moneyline play. Don’t believe in Cleveland after a push versus the Bills in Week 10.
NFL Prediction: Pittsburgh Steelers
Sunday, Nov. 17
Jacksonville Jaguars vs Indianapolis Colts -3
Jacoby Brissett should play for the Colts. It’s hard to give up 3-points in this matchup, though. The Jaguars are just as good. They have a better rushing attack. That makes the Jags the play.
NFL Prediction: Jacksonville Jaguars
New Orleans Saints -5 ½ / Tampa Bay Buccaneers
New Orleans should bounce back with a win and cover. If Peat can’t go, Sean Payton will change up the offense. Expect New Orleans to run the ball. Expect faster-developing pass plays. The Saints get back on track.
NFL Prediction: New Orleans Saints
Atlanta Falcons vs Carolina Panthers -5 ½
The Falcons changed some things. It led to an upset win. The Panthers can’t stop the rush. Although Devonta Freeman may not play, the ATL has enough RB depth to expose Carolina. Atlanta covers in a high-scoring game.
NFL Prediction: Atlanta Falcons
Denver Broncos vs Minnesota Vikings -10 ½
10 ½ is a lot of points to give up to any NFL opponent. But, the Vikings are loads better than Denver. Also, the Ponies don’t match up well with the Norsemen.
NFL Prediction: Minnesota Vikings
New York Jets / Washington Redskins -1 ½
The Jets should make it 2 in a row. Washington must start Dwayne Haskins. Why wait? If they don’t start the rookie, they will play him at some point. When Sam Darnold is on, the Jets’ quarterback can light up most teams in the league.
NFL Prediction: New York Jets
Buffalo Bills -5 ½ vs Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins are on a 5-game covering streak. Why not make it 6?
NFL Prediction: Miami Dolphins
Houston Texans vs Baltimore Ravens -4
The quarterback battle of the season pits awesome Deshaun Watson against superman Lamar Jackson. Expect fireworks because nobody can stop the Ravens’ offense. No defense can stop Houston’s offense either when Deshauan and De’Andre Hopkins are clicking. Ravens are only 1-6 ATS in their last 7 home games. The Ravens are playing like the best team in the NFL, though.
New England Patriots -4 vs Philadelphia Eagles
Are the Patriots really 4 points better than the Eagles? New England finally played a good team in Week 9. They lost straight up. On Sunday, the Pats play their second good team this season. New England could lose straight up again. Take the points on the home dog for sure.
NFL Prediction: Philadelphia Eagles
Cincinnati Bengals vs Oakland Raiders -10 ½
The Bengals are 0-3 ATS and 1-4 ATS in their last 5. Oakland is 3-0 ATS in their last 3. Lay it.
NFL Prediction: Oakland Raiders
Arizona Cardinals vs San Francisco 49ers -13 ½
The 49ers couldn’t stop Kenyan Drake in their 28-25 win over the Cards on Halloween. The Cardinals have covered in 5-of-6. 13 ½ are way too many points.
NFL Prediction: Arizona Cardinals
Los Angeles Rams -3 ½ vs Pittsburgh Steelers
The trends point to this one being much closer than most
sports gambling bettors believe. The Rams are on a 2-game winning streak. The Steelers are on a 3-game winning streak and are tough at home. Take the points.
NFL Prediction: Pittsburgh Steelers
Monday, Nov. 18
Kansas City Chiefs -4 vs L.A. Chargers
It’s difficult to back Kansas City as a road favorite. The Chargers have played well in the past 3 weeks. KC’s offense will score. Patrick Mahomes ensures that. The defense is terrible. The Bolts have a chance to win straight up. They should keep this within the number for sure.
NFL Prediction: L.A. Chargers
