- Drew Brees is favored to win the Super Bowl 53 MVP
- Brees won the award in Super Bowl 44, his lone Super Bowl appearance
- The Saints are Super Bowl 53 favorites and no other New Orleans player cracks the top-12 on the MVP odds board
Drew Brees is no longer the favorite to win the NFL's Most Valuable Player, but he can take comfort in the fact that he has the best odds to win the MVP of Super Bowl 53.

Brees, whose Saints are Super Bowl 53 favorites, is narrowly favored ahead of Showtime Patrick Mahomes and four-time Super Bowl MVP Tom Brady.

Not surprisingly, 10 of the top-11 favorites are quarterbacks, with Todd Gurley, the NFL's touchdown leader, being the lone outlier.
History is on Brees' side
Seven of the last nine Super Bowl MVP's have been quarterbacks, including Brees in Super Bowl 44.
Dating back to 1999, a quarterback has the won the award 13 times, while only three other offensive players, Deion Branch, Hines Ward, and Santonio Homes, have taken home the hardware.
The last five winners were all on teams seeded first in their respective conference, just like Brees and the Saints are heading into this year's playoffs.

The Inside track
Brees has to be salivating over the possibility of playing in a Super Bowl indoors, on the fast track, in Atlanta.
He's historically performed much better in a dome versus outside and 2018 was no exception. Brees was 8-1 indoors this season, with a ridiculous 26-3 TD to INT rate, and passer rating of 123.3.
There are quite a few good teams in the NFC – but no one is beating the #Saints in New Orleans.

He's 5-1 in his playoff career indoors, and with the Saints guaranteed home field advantage throughout the playoffs, he won't have to play outside again this season.
Bet on Brees, not the Saints in Super Bowl 53
If you're bullish on the Saints, why not bet Brees to win Super Bowl MVP at +350, as opposed to New Orleans to raise the Lombardi Trophy at +250.

It's a quarterback dominated award and you're getting more bang for your buck.
Brees is averaging 321 passing yards and 3 touchdowns per game with a 76% completion percentage indoors this season.
If the Saints win and he merely reaches his median outcome you'll be sitting pretty, and he's a stone cold lock every time he hits his ceiling.
