Week 10 is upon us and with it comes more new faces in new places. Not only will Week 10 provide us with our first look at Golden Tate in Philly but Dez Bryant has decided to bless the NFL and its fans by signing with the potent New Orleans Saints. If he has anything left in the tank, Drew Brees should be able to find it. I will be waiting and watching for a week before considering Dez for the top 100, though. Read on to find my Top 20 QBs and Top 100 PPR Flex plays heading into Week 10. QB Matchups You Can’t Ignore

At this point in the season we have a pretty good idea of what teams are, whether it’s good, bad, or, like the majority of the league, just inconsistent. But it’s the bad that provide the edge at QB when looking for a signal-caller cheaper than the likes of Pat Mahomes.

Sure, we can look at passing defenses and take the bottom five and check their opponent as a good possibility, or we can use some common sense and attempt to exploit great situations at a lesser cost. For instance, the Jon-Gruden-ruined Raiders sit 24th in the league against the pass. With the Los Angeles Chargers visiting this week, I am willing to bet that 24th rank gets worse. The Raiders have struggled to stop anything all season long and offer the league’s worst run defense and second worst scoring defense. Week 9 saw never-heard-of, third-strong quarterback Nick Mullens carve the Raiders up for three passing touchdowns in his first NFL start. Week 10 the Raiders will lay out the red carpet for Philip Rivers and his 19:3 TD:INT ratio through 8 games. Sure it’s a divisional game but Gruden has the Raiders in such a state of flux there are college teams that could give them a whipping. Other QBs poised to put up points in good situations this week:  Drew Brees, Russell Wilson, Baker Mayfield, and Alex Smith.

Julio Finally Hits Paydirt

Julio Jones’ pace after 8 games: 182 targets, 120 receptions, 1,866 yards, and 2 touchdows. Mind-boggling numbers but the thing is, it’s not his first time approaching numbers comparable to that. Just last year Jones finished with a 88-1,440-3 line. There is no doubt Julio is a top notch receiver, but I have plenty of doubt about his red zone prowess. It’s certainly not his ability and it’s certainly not his size, as he stands 6’3″ and weighs in around 220 pounds. So what it is it? I’m not sure. All I know is I’m continuing to view him the same way going forward as a high-volume low-touchdown producer, and am certainly not expecting the flood gates to open because he finally found his way to a score.

Gordon On The Fringe Of WR1 Territory

With 18 catches on 32 targets over his last 4 games, Josh Gordon is finding his way in the Patriots offense. With star tight end Rob Gronkowski nursing an injured back, leading to game time decisions the past few weeks, the Patriots have needed Gordon to step up, and he has. Posting two 100-yard games in the Pats’ last three contests, carrying a YPC of 20.9 in that span, Gordon has earned Tom Brady’s trust as the top downfield option. As Gordon continues to get more comfortable in the offense, his production will continue to improve. For now, he is a high-upside WR2, but should be played in lineups across all formats.

What To Do With Mark Ingram

Mark Ingram has been pretty quiet since his loud debut way back in Week 5. The Saints sport one of the league’s most explosive offenses, in which Ingram gets at minimum 10 touches a game in. Those 10 came last week in a game that Ingram lost a fumble reasonably early, and backfield mate Alvin Kamara was having a stellar day. Ingram hasn’t been his same old self in 2018, but his usage and situation make him an every week flex play with big upside. But keep in mind the low floor exhibited in Week 9.

Scanning the Week 10 Bargain Bin

The pair of rookie wideouts failed me miserably last week. Lick the wounds and try, try again. The rookie receiver I will put my nickel on this week is Christain Kirk. Normally I try to stay away from relying on bad QBs, but I just can’t help myself sometimes. The Cardinals last played Week 8, coming from behind to steal a game from the 49ers in new OC Bryan Leftwich’s debut. It was Kirk who caught the winning TD. Though the Cards offense hasn’t shown much of anything this year, Kirk and rookie QB Josh Rosen have had some modest success. I don’t expect the game script to favor the Cards this week, as they head to Arrowhead to face a Chiefs offense that could put this game out of reach in a hurry. Anyway this game works out, Kirk will get opportunities against a Chiefs D giving up over 300 passing yards a game. Good luck in Week 10!
