Kansas City also played against the Green Bay Packers in Super Bowl 1 on January 15th, 1967, losing 35-10. The Chiefs and New York Jets are the only teams to play for the Super Bowl as AFL franchises but never as NFL franchises.

On the other hand, should the Chiefs win, it works the narrative even more succinctly that Mahomes, the second QB in NFL history to pass for 5,000 yards and 50 TDs in the same season, is about to inherit Brady's throne.

They are still young – none of Donald, running back Todd Gurley or QB Jared Goff can yet be classified as anywhere near past their primes.
