Betting on the Chicago Bears (10-4)
The Bears are on fire. After taking down the Los Angeles Rams in Week 14, 15-6, they mopped the floor with the Green Bay Packers in a 24-17 victory last Sunday for their last regular-season game at Soldier Field. Now, they’ll be stepping out of Windy City for a meeting with the 49ers, whose offense is presumably going to be challenged – hard. The Bears have arguably the most imposing defense in the league. They are third in the NFL in scoring defense with just 18.9 points allowed per game and third also in total defense with only 310.9 total yards surrendered per contest. The Rams and the Packers combined for only 23 points against Chicago the past two weeks, an accomplishment by the Bears’ defense that speaks volumes about how difficult it would be for young and replacement-level 49ers quarterback Nick Mullens. The 49ers have allowed the sixth most sacks this season, which sounds too tasty for Khalil Mack (12.5 sacks) and Akiem Hicks (6.0 sacks).
Mitchell Trubisky has had a solid stretch recently, improving his passer rating significantly. In the last three games, he's averaged a completion rate of 67%, adding precision to the Bears' offense. This efficiency is very important as the team looks toward securing home-field advantage.

Betting on the San Francisco 49ers (4-10)

Mullens had 275 passing yards and a touchdown on 20-of-29 completions in a solid performance. He could also thank rookie wide receiver Dante Pettis and a pair of tight ends for making his life easier opposite the Seahawks. Pettis led the team with 83 receiving yards on five catches, while Garrett Celek and George Kittle had 61 and 51 receiving yards, respectively. With wide receiver Pierre Garcon on the injured reserve and done for the rest of the season, Pettis, Celek, and Kittle will be the main weapons for Mullens in the Niners’ remaining games. The Niners can keep in step with Chicago if they could get to Mitchell Trubisky early and telegraph his passes. The Niners are allowing the fifth lowest completion percentage to opponents with a 62.27 clip.
With Pierre Garcon on injured reserve, the 49ers will rely heavily on Pettis and Kittle. Their ability to stretch the field will be very important in challenging Chicago's defense.
The absence of Garcon could shift more coverage to Kittle, opening opportunities for Pettis to shine against the Bears' secondary.
