- Rams bring high-octane offense to the Windy City
- Can stout Bears' D hold up against Goff and Gurley?
- Picking the best value props for primetime tilt
Week 13 was supposed to be a momentum builder, but we picked up where we left off last week – namely, with just one win out of three – with some “I can't believe this just happened” moments.
So, fine, the Steelers, who almost never score first, score first. But we were right on track with Phil Rivers out-completing Big Ben, until a third string running back suddenly became unstoppable. C'mon man!

Week 14 presents poster boys for NFL offense and defense squaring off as the Rams play the Bears.
Historical Performance of Rams in Week 14 Games
The Rams have shown mixed results in past Week 14 games. Over the last five years, they’ve managed three wins and two losses. Notably, their offense tends to peak late in the season, helping secure past playoff spots. Remember Jared Goff's clutch plays in important games. The Rams capitalize on high-stakes matchups, and Week 14 might be no different this year.
If you're just looking for the moneyline, spread, and game total, see our Rams vs Bears Odds, Picks, and Predictions. Let's get to the props that will make you a winner.
Prop #1: The Opening Score Will be a Touchdown
Prop | BetOnline Odds |
---|---|
First Score TD | -185 |
First Score FG or Safety | +160 |
*All odds taken 12/8
Coincidentally, the only game the Bears have played this season that hasn't started off with a major to start the game was Week 11, when I picked this same bet and Cody Parkey kicked a field goal to kick things off. Ya, awesome.
Mike Davis' (@MikeDavisRB) touchdown run in the 1st quarter against the Rams was extremely well done:
– Read-option inside zone run to the left
– Davis presses back to his right which sets up #90 in the hole
– Accelerates through for the TD!#Seahawkspic.twitter.com/4AwIxduYzQ— Samuel Gold (@SamuelRGold) October 12, 2018
The Rams don't dabble in field goals much either to start the scoring. Los Angeles has had just four of 12 games begin with a 3-pointer. Oddly enough, they've surrendered the first TD of the game six times, while the Bears have scored six opening majors.
Recent Matchups Between Rams and Bears
Historically, the Rams and Bears have split wins in the last four meetings. In 2018, the Bears out-defended the Rams, holding them to just six points. But in 2019, the Rams returned the favor, controlling the game and securing a 17-7 victory. These past games emphasize the tactical adjustments each team makes, proving every game is a fresh battleground.
I'm not reluctant delving into this bet again, and you shouldn't either.
Prop #2: Jared Goff Will Puncture Bears Secondary
Will Goff Throw for At Least 331 Yards? | BetOnline Odds |
---|---|
Yes | +114 |
This is more an ode to the brilliance of Rams head coach Sean McVay at getting his quarterback the right plays to exploit any team, than a diss to the Bears defense.
This is going to be an excellent chess match.
Jared Goff is on ???

Since surrendering 301 yards to Aaron Rodgers in Week 1 – and just days after acquiring Khalil Mack – the Bears have allowed a 300 yard passer just once this season. And of all people, it was Brock freaking Ossweiler to do it.
Khalil Mack (6'3" 252) works an inside escape on the TE, then floors Taylor Decker (6'7" 311) on his way to a sack. Use your hands & good things will happen! #Bears pic.twitter.com/9dcr4H1o7i

Most notably, they limited Tom Brady to 273 yards through the air and Kirk Cousins to 246. But other than them, let's just say it's not a murderers row of QBs they've been hunting down.

The Bears have sacked an opposing QB three or more times in seven different games this season. And while they're too talented not to get home at some point, Goff will do damage.
Analysis of Bears' Defensive Line-Up
The Bears’ defense has boasted stars like Khalil Mack, who was key in sacks last season. Injuries to key players have challenged them, but veteran leadership remains strong. Watch Roquan Smith and his powerful tackles, reshaping their defensive line. Their focus will be containment, aiming to stifle both Gurley’s runs and Goff’s aerial attacks.
Prop #3: Todd Gurley Will Find the Endzone
Will Todd Gurley Rush For at Least One TD | BetOnline Odds |
---|---|
Yes | -200 |
Gurley looked like the destructive weapon we had come to know and opposing defensive coordinators came to fear last week, when he ran for 132 yards and a couple of scores to sink the Lions.

— NFL (@NFL) December 3, 2018
Prior to that, two of his previous three games he was held to under 70 yards rushing – and they came in two wild shootouts against the Saints and Chiefs.
Chicago again has been stout against the run. They've only given up over 100 yards in a game four times this year. Last week's loss to the Giants was just the second game all year they allowed a player to go for over 100.

1n 12 games, Gurley has topped 100 six times, so he can be contained, but not from the endzone, where he has been held out of paydirt just three times.
Weather Impact on Soldier Field Performance
Soldier Field in December is no joke with cold and windy conditions. The wind off Lake Michigan affects passing games, posing a challenge for teams like the Rams. Historically, visiting teams struggle with field goals in these swirling winds. Expect more ground attacks and defensive plays, as weather could limit long-range passes.
The Bears have allowed just four rushing majors this year. This week will mark the fifth.
Betting Trends and Market Movements
As kickoff nears, bookies note increased bets on the Rams, driven by their offensive stats. Odds have shifted reflecting this, moving in favor of a high-score game. Public sentiment is leaning towards a Rams win, while sharp bettors eye the underdog Bears' defense. Keep an eye on late movements; they often hint at game-day surprises.
