Betting on the New Orleans Saints (1-1)

The Saints might have the most electric third-string quarterback of all-time in the form of Taysom Hill. New Orleans will always be about Drew Brees, but in the Saints’ 19-17 road win over the Los Angeles Chargers on the road last week, Hill had his time under the sun, tossing 136 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 11-for-15 completions and adding 53 rushing yards on five carries. The Saints are clearly having fun with Hill, but head coach Sean Payton has no reason to smile about how his team fared when they’re inside the red zone against the Bolts. The Saints went just 1-for-5 inside 20 yards of the end zone, and it’s something Payton would like to see improve greatly when they go up against the Jets. The Saints’ defense was also on point in Week 2, particularly their secondary, as New Orleans recorded two interceptions.

The Saints are 5-5 against the spread (ATS) in their last 10 preseason games.

Betting on the New York Jets (1-1)

The Jets bounced back from a 31-22 loss to the New York Jets in Week 1 of the preseason by smothering the Atlanta Falcons on the road last Thursday, 22-10. New York’s defense showed no preseason mercy on the Falcons, as the Jets’ pass rush turned on their boosters and embarrassed Atlanta’s offensive line by recording five sacks that resulted in a loss of 26 yard for their opponents. That kind of pass rush is going to be important for the Jets in slowing down New Orleans’ potent offense — with or without Drew Brees on the field. On offense, Sam Darnold looked sharp and ready to go in the preseason. He went 5 of 7 for 46 yards against the Falcons, while Luke Falk went 4 of 4 for 41 passing yards and a touchdown. Adam Gase must also be happy at the fact that his Jets didn’t turn the ball over in the Falcons game after losing possession of the ball twice against the Giants.

The under is 8-2 in the Jets’ last 10 preseason games.

Writer’s Prediction

The Saints win, 27-20.
