  • BetOnline is pitting the Giants QBs against each other in a series of head-to-head prop bets
  • Rookie Daniel Jones is a -140 favorite to have more passing yards than Eli Manning
  • Yet Jones is an enticing +150 underdog to start more games this season

The hype surrounding Daniel Jones has surged following the rookie quarterback’s first NFL preseason performance.

Jones, who was selected sixth overall in the 2019 NFL draft, had a solid debut with the New York Giants, going 5-for-5 for 67 yards and a touchdown pass. That led to his 2019 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year odds improving dramatically.

It also escalated speculation about who will be the starting quarterback for the Giants in Week 1 — the rookie pivot or two-time Super Bowl champion Eli Manning. In turn, that led the oddsmakers at BetOnline to post a series of prop bets between the two potential starters.

Here’s a breakdown of all the prop bets available.

Manning vs Jones: Who Will Have More Passing Yards in 2019?

Player Odds at BetOnline*
Daniel Jones -140
Eli Manning +100

While Manning is a heavy favorite to begin the season as the Giants’ starting QB, other odds suggest the two-time Super Bowl MVP won’t be able to keep the job for very long.

BetOnline is offering an enticing -140 line that Jones will have more passing yards than Manning when all is said and done.

There are reasons to believe that could be the case. The Giants took a lot of heat for selecting Jones so high in the draft, so the team will be eager to prove the naysayers wrong.

However, it’s hard to ignore the fact that Manning is coming off a 4,299 passing yard season,  marking the fourth time in five seasons he has posted 4,000 or more passing yards.

Pick: Eli Manning (+100)

Manning vs Jones: Who Will Have More Passing Touchdowns in 2019?

Player Odds at BetOnline
Daniel Jones -120
Eli Manning -120

Manning has never been a touchdown-machine. His most productive period came between 2013 and 2015, averaging 27.7 touchdowns per season during that span. In 2015, Manning threw for a career-best 35 TD passes — many of which were caught by Odell Beckham Jr.

However, Manning’s touchdown production plummeted over the last three years throwing 19 and 21 in 2017 and 2018, respectively.

Jones has much more upside to throw more touchdowns, which makes the -120 price worth taking.

Pick: Daniel Jones (-120)

Manning vs Jones: Who Will Have More Interceptions in 2019?

Player Odds at BetOnline
Eli Manning +150
Daniel Jones -200

Manning has been able to keep his interceptions relatively low year over year, but with the Giants rebuilding its roster, expect the pick-offs to rise substantially in what’s expected to be a rough season in New York.

Jones is a -200 favourite to have more interceptions, but there is more value in betting on Manning at +150.

2019 NFL Divisional Odds Tracker

Manning has held a 13.6 interception average over the last five years, but should finish somewhere in the range of 18-20 on this Giants team.

That should be enough to open the door for Jones, but by then the damage will have been done.

Pick: Eli Manning (+150)

Manning vs Jones: Who Will Start More Games in 2019?

Player Odds at BetOnline
Eli Manning -150
Daniel Jones +110

BetOnline believes Manning will start more games for the Giants, listing the future Hall of Fame QB as the -150 favorite.

Manning will without question be the Giants’ starting quarterback to begin the 2019 NFL season and should keep the job for at least 7-8 weeks.

However, the door will likely be open for Jones to take over if the Giants are still winless or have a lousy record by Week 7 or 8.

There is far more value in taking Jones at +110 to start more games this season.

Head coach Pat Shurmur will look for the smallest of windows to officially begin the Daniel Jones era, handing the reigns to the rookie QB while also using Manning as a mentor.

Manning is an ironman of sorts — missing just one regular-season game in 14 years, but as the Giants rebuild, they’ll want Jones to be the No. 1 guy sooner than later.

Pick: Daniel Jones (+100)
