A heads up when it comes to Chiefs-Texans matchups: when these two teams get together, wild things tend to happen.

Texans Will Make Their Points

There’s a pair of Texans-related odds boosts here that are definitely worth the investment. Specifically, there’s the DraftKings boost of the Texans to cover the +9.5-point spread and the total of 54.5 to go over at +317.

The second boost that’s worth an investment is FanDuel’s combination of Houston quarterback Deshaun Watson to pass for 271+ yards and Texans to cover at +9.5. That’s being boosted up to +280.

The Texans and Chiefs met twice last season at Arrowhead Stadium with this matchup of sensational young quarterbacks. Both games were barnburners.

In Week 6, Watson and the Texans came to Kansas City and left with an impressive 31-24 upset victory as 3.5-point underdogs. Houston didn’t cover as ten-point underdogs in the playoffs, losing 51-31, however Watson threw for 388 yards that day.

For KC, covering a spread of -9.5 is going to be a big ask in an early-season game. Remember, teams didn’t get a preseason to iron out any kinks.

In four of the past six Kansas City-Houston meetings, the total has gone over. More importantly, both games between these teams with Mahomes and Watson under center for their respective teams have gone over.

The total has also gone over in four of the past six Texans games when facing an AFC opponent. As well, the total has gone over in five of Kansas City’s past six games against teams from the AFC South Division.

Kelce Won’t Catch On

The odds boost on Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce to score the game’s first TD certainly looks enticing. A betting line of +725 would pay handsomely.

Here’s why it wouldn’t be a wager as much as a donation to your sportsbook of choice.

Betting on who scores the game’s first TD is always going to be like tossing a dart at the board. In Kelce’s case, it’s more like tossing your money out the window.

In KC’s last 25 games, Kelce has scored the first TD of the game once (4% of the time). His +725 odds have an implied probability of 12.1%.
