Jets Aim to Extend Late-Season Resurgence
Following a dismal start to the campaign, New York finds is in the middle of a late-season resurgence, posting wins in four of its past five. The steady play of quarterback Sam Darnold has been key to the Jets’ recent success. Darnold has connected on multiple scoring passes in three of the Jets’ past four outings, including a two-touchdown performance in a 22-21 win over Miami last Sunday.
The New York defense has also risen to the occasion, limiting opponents to just 18 points per game during the team’s 4-1 run.
Sam Darnold since seeing ghosts against the Pats:
64.1% completion rate
14 TD (2 Rushing TD) / 6 INT
94.8 Passer Rating
5-5 record this season with 19 players from the roster on IR.

But while the Jets kicked off their current tear with three straight-up wins as betting underdogs, they failed to cover the spread in their past two outings, dropping a stunning 22-6 decision in Cincinnati to the previously winless Bengals as 2.5-point road chalk, and then failing to cover as 5-point home favorites in Sunday’s one-point win over the Dolphins.
New York a Shaky Bet on the Road
The road has been largely unkind to New York. A 34-17 win in Washington in Week 11 marks the Jets’ only road victory this season. They have a dismal 4-19 record in away contests dating back to December 2016.
Jets get embarrassed 22-6 as the Bengals get their first win of the season. #Jets are 1st team in NFL history to lose to two teams that were at least 0-7 in the same season.

The Jets have only fared marginally better at the sportsbooks when playing on the road, going 4-5 ATS in their past nine. Those trends extend to New York’s recent road outings while pegged as an underdog by two touchdowns or more. The Jets are winless SU in their past nine and are 2-3 ATS in those situations. They did, however, cover as 21-point underdogs at New England back in Week 3, losing 30-14.
The concerning road trends continue when looking at the Jets’ history in Baltimore. New York is winless in five visits since 2000, while averaging just 11.2 points per game.
Ravens Enjoying Franchise-Record Win Streak
The Ravens are aiming to extend their franchise-record win streak to 10 games on Thursday night. The Ravens are coming off another solid effort in a 24-17 win in Buffalo that clinched a berth in the NFL playoffs.
With the win, Baltimore now also sits alone atop the AFC standings with an 11-2 record. The win streak has also moved their Super Bowl odds to +250, nearly twice as short as any other team in the league.

The Ravens have also been outstanding at home during their current tear, going 4-0 including convincing victories over Houston and New England, and a character win over San Francisco in a potential preview of Super Bowl 54.
Baltimore Unreliable When Favored by 14 or More
However, it has been a decade since the Ravens claimed an ATS win while favored by 14 or more points. While quarterback Lamar Jackson has strengthened his NFL MVP credentials by tossing 16 touchdown passes over the past five games, the Ravens face a rapidly improving Jets defense.
Le’Veon Bell said he lost 8 or 9 pounds last week because of flu. Says family & friends were in town to see him play, but when he was ruled out Sat docs told him to to get moving & active. So, he and his family & friends went bowling. … And, he bowled a career-best 251. #Jets

New York has surrendered just one TD pass over its past three outings, and more than 68 rushing yards just once in its past six games. A cold weather forecast for Thursday night adds a layer of complexity to this contest, with the temperature expected to dip close to the freezing mark.
But the greatest concern for the Jets will likely be injuries, with the list of players sidelined earlier this week growing to include Le’Veon Bell, Demaryius Thomas, Jamal Adams, Brian Poole, Quinnen Williams, and Ryan Griffin.
Picks: Ravens -15 (-109), OVER 45 (-109)
