Betting on the Atlanta Falcons (1-1)

The Falcons have Julio Jones to thank for in saving them from what could have been a 0-2 SU start to the season. The superstar wide receiver, who is now the franchise’s all-time leader in receiving yards, punctuated Week 2 of the 2019 NFL season with a game-winning touchdown during Atlanta’s 24-20 home win over the Philadelphia Eagles on a Sunday night meeting. Jones finished the night with 106 receiving yards and two touchdowns on five receptions, while Calvin Ridley added 105 receiving yards and a score on eight catches. Even for the Colts’ top 10 pass defense, dealing with Jones and Ridley is going to be a headache. But the Falcons’ defense should not be forgotten, too. Atlanta’s D stepped up big time in Week 2, with Desmond Trufant nabbing two interceptions and the Falcons recording three sacks. Atlant is third in the league with just 277.5 total yards allowed per game.

The under is 3-1 in the Falcons’ last four games.

Betting on the Indianapolis Colts (1-1)

Have we seen the last game in the storied career of Colts kicker Adam Vinatieri? The 46-year-old veteran botched a pair of extra-point attempts in a 19-17 win over the Tennessee Titans last Sunday. Vinatieri also was a mess in his job in Week 1, and two consecutive weeks of poor performance could force him into retirement. Still, the Colts have every right to enjoy their first win of the season. Jacoby Brissett passed for three touchdowns and an interception on 17 for 28 completions against the Titans. Wide receiver TY Hilton and tight end Eric Ebron both caught a touchdown while rookie wideout Parris Campbell also had a touchdown grab himself. Brissett is seemingly building a good rapport with his receivers, but the Colts continue to be a run-heavy team. In fact, Indianapolis is fourth in the NFL with a 52.67 rush play percentage so far this season.

The over is 2-0 in the Colts’ last two games at home.

Writer’s Prediction

The Falcons win, 26-23.
