Betting on the Miami Dolphins (1-7)
Do you believe in miracles? If you don’t then you better be, because how else can the tanking Dolphins pull off a 26-18 home win over the New York Jets last Sunday? But seriously, the Fins just played more cohesively than the Jets, which isn’t to say that Miami is finally getting it together. For one, two of their key starters in that game won’t be playing this weekend. Running back Mark Walton is suspended four games for violating the league’s policy on personal conduct, while rookie wide receiver Preston Williams is out for the rest of the year after sustaining a knee injury. Replacing Walton’s role will be Kalen Ballage, while DeVante Parker and Albert Wilson should see their roles in the passing game increase following the news on Williams. If anything, the Dolphins could face a subpar Colts team with some of Indianapolis’ key pieces also dealing with injuries.
The Dolphins are 2-0 against the spread (ATS) in their last two road games.
Betting on the Indianapolis Colts (5-3)
The Colts are thriving despite the shocking retirement of Andrew Luck just before the season kicked off, thanks in large part to Jacoby Brissett. But the Colts might not be able to weather another quarterback injury, so they are hoping Brissett will be able to come back soon after he hurt his knee in last week’s 26-24 road loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Brissett aside, the Colts could also be missing wide receiver T.Y. Hilton, who missed the date with the Steelers because of a nagging calf issue. Brissett has a higher chance to play than Hilton based on the fact that the quarterback practiced (limited) on practice, while Hilton did not at all take the field. Veteran QB Brian Hoyer will be the Colts’ go-to guy under center if Brissett will not be given the green light to play. Hoyer should be good enough to lead the Colts against Miami’s nonexistent defense that is last in the league with 32.0 points allowed per game.
The Colts win, 27-13.
