- Big offseason changes expected after Dolphins miss playoffs for second straight year
- Despite team struggles, Gase maintains confidence of team owner Stephen Ross
- Several teams expected to pursue Gase should he be fired by the Dolphins
The winds of change are expected to blow through Hard Rock Stadium after the Miami Dolphins close out their 2018 NFL season with a Week 17 clash with the Buffalo Bills.
With the Dolphins already eliminated from playoff contention for a second year, the future of both quarterback Ryan Tannehill and executive vice-president of football operations Mike Tannenbaum in Miami appears to be in doubt.
However, head coach Adam Gase has emerged as a favorite to be back walking the Dolphins sideline for Week 1 of the 2019 NFL season, sporting short -165 odds on the NFL specials at Bovada.

Dolphins Producing Mixed Results with Gase at the Helm
Gase has produced mixed results in his three seasons at the Dolphins helm.
The 40-year-old led Miami to a 10-6 record in his NFL head coaching debut in 2016, ending the Dolphins’ eight-year playoff drought in the process.
But the team has reverted to familiar mediocre form over the past two seasons, stumbling to a 6-10 record in 2017 before playing their way out of contention during this year’s stretch run.
Despite disappointing results on the gridiron, Gase reportedly maintains the confidence of Dolphins owner Stephen Ross
Despite the disappointing results on the gridiron, Gase reportedly maintains the confidence of Dolphins owner Stephen Ross, who also handed his coach control of the team’s 53-man roster when he inked him to a five-year contract prior to the 2016 NFL season.

But with just four wins in 12 outings since opening the current campaign on an impressive 3-0 run, another dismal performance in the Dolphins’ season finale could lead to a change of heart by Ross.
Browns Top List of Teams Expected to Pursue Gase
And with Gase likely to be an attractive candidate for the growing number of NFL teams expected to make coaching changes during the offseason, there could be some value in the +125 odds on Gase and the Dolphins parting ways before next season.

He has also publicly expressed his admiration for both Mayfield’s personality and how he plays the game.
Packers, Cardinals, Broncos Among Teams Expected to Make Coaching Hires
In addition to the Green Bay Packers, who parted ways with long-time bench boss Mike McCarthy earlier this month, there is no shortage of teams expected to make coaching changes this offseason.
