Betting on the Seattle Seahawks (11-5)

The Seahawks passed their first test of the playoffs by taking down the Philadelphia Eagles on the road on Sunday, 17-9. Seattle got some break in the game, as Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz exited the match early and did not return because of a concussion, leaving Philly’s offense mostly at the hands of 40-year-old QB Josh McCown. Russell Wilson and DK Metcalf played sweet music together for the entire game. Wilson went 18 for 30 for 325 passing yards and a touchdown, while Metcalf had 160 receiving yards and a touchdown on seven receptions. Metcalf can exploit mismatches downfield because of his combination of size, mobility, and speed for someone with his frame. Wilson is having success throwing deep passes this season, hence the Seahawks finishing the regular season seventh with 7.5 yards per pass. Metcalf averaged 22.9 yards per catch in the Eagles game, and he’ll be dealing with Green Bay’s pass defense that gave up the 10th-most 20-plus yards pass plays in the regular season.

The Seahawks are 5-4-1 against the spread (ATS) this season.

Betting on the Green Bay Packers (13-3)

The Packers are hoping for Aaron Rodgers to play like the Aaron Rodgers they used to know in the playoffs. Rodgers has seen his play dip this season. He was only 20th in the regular season in quarterback rating (50.7) In Week 17’s 23-20 road win over the Detroit Lions, Rodgers completed just 27 of 55 passes for 323 yards and two touchdowns with an interception. The good thing about the Packers’ offense is that opponents will always continue respecting Rodgers no matter how he performed in the last game. That will open things up for talented Packers running back Aaron Jones, who finished the regular season with 1,084 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns — tied with Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry for most overall. Seattle allowed 120 rushing yards to the Eagles last Sunday, so that could be taken as a sign of weakness on the Seahawks’ run defense that was only 27th in the regular season with 4.8 rushing yards per carry allowed.

The Packers are 6-4 ATS in their last 10 home games.

Writer’s Prediction

The Packers win, 24-23.
