Betting on the Washington Redskins (3-9)
The future looks a little brighter for the Redskins following their 29-21 victory over the Carolina Panthers. The Redskins are still far away from being a playoff contender, but the pair of quarterback Dwayne Haskins and running back Derrius Guice is barely scratching the surface of its potential. Haskins went 13 for 25 for 147 passing yards in the Carolina game while Guice burned rubber for 129 rushing yards and a pair of touchdowns on 10 carries. Between the two, it’s Guice who has the best outlook heading into the matchup with Green Bay, which is just 25th in the league against the run, as the Packers are allowing 123.0 rushing yards per game. Guice will also be getting help in the backfield from the ageless Adrian Peterson, who’s showing he has plenty of gas left in his tank. Peterson rushed for 99 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries for an average of 7.6 yards per rushing attempt.
The Redskins are 5-5 against the spread (ATS) in their last 10 games away from the capital.
Betting on the Green Bay Packers (9-3)
It was snowy in East Rutherford last Sunday, but that didn’t stop Aaron Rodgers from heating up in the pocket. Rodgers passed for 243 yards and four touchdowns on 21-of-33 completions. Green Bay’s offensive line deserved much credit too for not letting Rodgers get touched. However, Packers running back Aaron Jones had a hard time finding gaps to run through, as he finished the game with only 18 rushing yards on 11 carries. The matchup against the Redskins could very well serve as the bounce-back game for Jones, as Washington has one of the worst run defenses in the league. Washington is surrendering 131.6 rushing yards per game. Wide receiver Davante Adams had 64 receiving yards and two touchdowns on six catches last Sunday. He now has three touchdowns over the last two games, and there could be more on the way now that momentum is on his side.
The Packers, who are averaging 24.1 points per game, are 2-0 ATS in their last two outings at Lambeau Field.
The Packers win, 28-19.
