It’s a testament to Pete Carroll’s coaching chops that the Seattle Seahawks are still plugging away and keeping their playoffs alive. The Seahawks will look to continue their roll against the San Francisco 49ers this weekend. The Niners are having a tumultuous week, but at least the losing helps them in their bid to have a high draft pick next year.

The 49ers are +200,000 to win the NFC, while the Seahawks have a more realistic shot of topping the conference with odds of +3,300.

Betting on the San Francisco 49ers (2-9)

The 49ers are on the headlines this week, mostly for the wrong reasons after they decided to release Reuben Foster after the linebacker was arrested over domestic violence. As for the the team’s law-abiding citizens, quarterback Nick Mullens is still with the team and will start in Week 13 despite struggling again in his last start. Mullens went 18 of 32 for 221 passing yards with a touchdown and two interceptions in a 27-9 road loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Bucs’ defense is one of the worst in the league, so scoring just nine points opposite was something that’s unacceptable even for San Francisco’s injury-riddled offense. Hopefully for Mullens and the Niners’ offense, they’ll get back two of their best downfield weapons in Marquise Goodwin and Pierre Garcon back after the two missed the Tampa Bay game due to varied reasons. If they can’t, Dante Pettis will be glad to step up. The rookie Pettis led San Francisco last week with 77 receiving yards and a touchdown on four receptions.

Injuries continue to plague the 49ers, with Marquise Goodwin and Pierre Garcon out impacting their offensive depth. Their absence leaves Nick Mullens with fewer veteran targets, putting pressure on rookies like Dante Pettis to fill in the gaps.

The team's performance hinges on their ability to adapt to these challenges, especially against a strong Seattle defense.

The under is 4-1 in the 49ers’ last five games.

Betting on the Seattle Seahawks (6-5)

The Seahawks are gaining momentum at just the right time. After taking down the Green Bay Packers at home in Week 12, the Seahawks followed it up with a 30-27 thumping of the Carolina Panthers in the latter’s lair. Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson went boom in that game with 339 passing yards and two touchdowns with zero turnovers on 22-of-31 completions. Receivers Tyler Lockett and David Moore made big plays after big plays, combining for 210 receiving yards and two touchdowns against the Panthers. The Seahawks are 16th in the league with 355.3 total yards per game this, but has stepped it up of late, having moved the chains for an average of 396.3 yards per game, ninth most in the NFL during that span. On defense, the Seahawks have an opportunity to pad their stats against a still green Mullens. Seattle is tied for sixth in the league with 11 interception.

Seattle's defense aims to capitalize on Mullens' inexperience. Known for their aggressive pass rush and skilled secondary, the Seahawks look to force turnovers and control the game's tempo.

By targeting weaknesses in the 49ers' depleted roster, they hope to continue their winning streak and strengthen their playoff chances.

The Seahawks are 9-1 SU and 9-1 ATS in their last 10 home games against San Francisco.

Writer’s Prediction

Seattle wins, 26-17.
