NFL Betting Odds | Wild Cards Weekend Betting Preview
The Houston Texans will be looking to remain unbeaten in Wild Card Weekend contests on home turf when they host the Indianapolis Colts on Saturday as narrow 2-point favorites on the NFL betting odds.
Houston claimed the AFC South title with last weekend’s 20-3 victory over Jacksonville as 7-point home chalk, and is unbeaten straight up in three previous wild card contests on home turf going into Saturday afternoon’s game at NRG Stadium.
The Texans’ 11-5 record marks the team’s second best regular season performance in franchise history, but a shaky 2-2 SU stretch run forced them to settle for the No. 3 seed in the AFC.
The Colts were responsible for one of those defeats, posting a 24-21 win as 4-point underdogs in Houston in Week 14 to end the Texans’ five-game home streak. With the win, Indianapolis now enjoys a 5-1 SU run at NRG Stadium, but enters the playoffs as a distant +3000 bet on the Super Bowl NFL betting lines.
Later on Saturday, the Dallas Cowboys look to extend their recent home dominance as they host the Seattle Seahawks as 1-point favorites on the NFL Wild Card odds.
Ravens, Bears Favored on Sunday NFL Wild Card Odds
Sunday’s Wild Card betting action opens with the Baltimore Ravens taking on the Los Angeles Chargers as 2.5-point home favorites, while the Chicago Bears are pegged as the heaviest chalk on this weekend’s NFL odds, favored by six points over the visiting Philadelphia Eagles.
The Cowboys fueled their rise to the top of the NFC East with 7-1 SU home record. Dallas is also 6-1-1 against the spread in its past eight games, but has fallen to defeat in nine of 11 playoff games since 1996 while going a middling 2-3 SU in five home dates.
The Seahawks climbed into playoff contention with a season-ending 6-1 SU run, and have also held the Cowboys to just 24 total points in consecutive wins in Dallas. However, Seattle amassed a middling 4-4 SU record on the road this season, and is 2-8-1 SU in 11 outings while pegged as road underdogs by two or fewer points in NFL football betting.
The fifth-seeded Chargers travel to Baltimore riding a six-game SU win streak on the road including four outright victories as betting underdogs. Los Angeles has averaged over 30 points per game over its past five victories but saw its offense get shut down in a stunning 22-10 loss to Baltimore as 4-point home chalk two weeks ago.
The Ravens have overcome a midseason swoon with SU wins in six of seven, and have held opponents to 17 or fewer points on four occasions during that stretch. However, that has not resulted in steady results in totals betting, with the OVER going 5-4 in the team’s past nine.
The Bears own the strongest Super Bowl odds of any team playing this weekend. Chicago has joined the favorites at +675 on those NFL betting odds after winning and covering in nine of 10 contests including five straight home victories.
However, with Nick Foles at the helm, the Eagles have re-emerged as a legitimate playoff threat. Philadelphia has gone 5-1 SU in its past six, a run highlighted by a 30-23 upset of the Los Angeles Rams as 13.5-point road underdogs three weeks ago.
