In reply to Mike T.. That’s the key distinction. Sportsbooks often show a combined balance on the front end, but the cashier or bonus wallet usually tells the real story. If it says bonus, promo, or rollover balance, assume there are still terms attached until it’s released as unrestricted cash.

The “winning slip still locked” part is exactly what confused me last year. I hit a free bet on the game, saw the balance jump, then couldn’t withdraw because the profit was in a bonus bucket with a rollover attached.

What finally worked was going into the cashier and checking the actual label, not just the number on the main balance. Annoying, but lesson learned.

Good breakdown. I wish books made the free-bet stake thing clearer — people see “$100 free bet” and assume they can win $100 plus profit, but usually the stake just disappears after settlement. Not shady necessarily, just not intuitive.

My rule now is boring but effective: screenshot the promo terms before placing anything. Especially the eligible markets and minimum odds. Had one Super Bowl promo where props didn’t count toward rollover, which I only noticed after betting a player TD market like a genius The win was real, but it didn’t move the rollover at all.
