NFL Picks Week 9 Where to Bet
[fcrp_feat_sc sc_id=”451″]
Atlanta at Tampa Bay
Not many people would've predicted that, about halfway through the 2016 NFL season, this game features the two top teams in the NFC South. The Buccaneers are only 1.5 games behind the Falcons in the NFC South standings. Despite losing four of their last six games, they could get themselves in striking distance of the division crown if they can upset the Falcons. Atlanta picked up a much needed win last week at home against Green Bay. This should put themselves in the driver's seat for the division crown with a win.
Pick: Atlanta
Jacksonville at Kansas City
The Kansas City Chiefs will look to pick up their fourth straight win against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Chiefs have appeared to regress back to their season-opening norm after picking up a couple of wins and seemingly saving head coach Gus Bradley's job. The Chiefs will have their fare share of questions on offense this week. Both quarterback
Alex Smith and running back Spencer Ware left last Sunday's win over Indianapolis with concussion-like symptoms. If they can't go, look for quarterback Nick Foles and running back Charcandrick West to take their place.
Pick: Kansas City
Detroit at Minnesota
Less than one month ago, the Minnesota Vikings were undefeated, and seemed to be the best team in the NFL. But after two straight losses, in which Vikings quarterback
Sam Bradford was sacked 11 times in those two games, Minnesota is facing their share of questions of how long they'll be able to contend in the ultra-competitive NFC North. They clearly cannot sleep on Detroit this week, as they just lost to the Chicago Bears this past Monday evening. If the Lions can keep quarterback Matthew Stafford safe from the Vikings pass rush, the Lions could very well pull off the upset over Minnesota.
Pick: Minnesota
Philadelphia at NY Giants
Even after coming off a win before the bye week, things haven't been overly pleasant for the New York Giants organization. Their 17-10 victory over the Los Angeles Rams was far from aesthetically pleasing, and didn't really silence any questions about quarterback Eli Manning's issues this season. On top of that, Giants General Manager has had to face continued questions about the team's knowledge of (former) kicker Josh Brown's history of domestic violence. That doesn't fare well for a team that's fighting for their life in the division.
Pick: Philadelphia
Dallas at Cleveland
Who would've thought that halfway through the season, with prolonged, injury-related absences by
Tony Romo and Dez Bryant, that the Cowboys would only have one loss in eight games?. Right now, it's not at all inconceivable to call them the best team in the NFC, and likely one of the three best teams in the NFL. That's not good news for the Cleveland Browns, who have to face the Cowboys this weekend. In contrast to Dallas, Cleveland looks well on its way to a winless season.
Pick: Dallas
NY Jets at Miami
The New York Jets might've snapped their four-game losing streak with back-to-back wins. However this team seems destined for (yet another) rebuild, instead of capitalizing on that short-term momentum. They were reportedly in serious negotiations to trade defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson. There was some thought they could even trade wide receiver
Brandon Marshall. While they'll do everything they can to remain competitive in 2016, their eyes are clearly looking towards the future.
Pick: Miami
Pittsburgh at Baltimore
Every storyline on this game seemingly hinge on whether quarterback
Ben Roethlisberger plays for the Steelers. Pittsburgh is obviously being coy about Roethlisberger's availability on Sunday, since there's obviously no benefit in telling the world who they'll start at quarterback. However Pittsburgh head coach Mike Tomlin did acknowledge the possibility of Roethlisberger playing this Sunday. If he starts under center, it'll be interesting to see if he can take advantage of a Ravens defense that's in the bottom third of the league in passing touchdowns allowed.
Pick: Pittsburgh
New Orleans at San Francisco
Capitalizing on the infusion of youth and talent at wide receiver, New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees is enjoying somewhat of a career renaissance right now. He's third in the NFL in passing yards, second in completion %, and third in
quarterback rating. He currently leads the NFL in passing yards per game (the Saints have already had their bye week, thus playing only seven games so far), and is on pace to throw for over 5,400 yards this year.
Pick: New Orleans
Carolina at Los Angeles
After going 3-1 through their first four games, the Los Angeles Rams have regressed back to their standard Jeff Fisher-esque mean. They have lost their last three games to put them at 3-4 through seven games. In what should be no surprise to anyone, there are already thoughts as to whether the Rams should go ahead and bench quarterback Case Keenum, and start giving Jared Goff — the first overall pick in the
2016 NFL Draft — some official NFL experience.
Pick: Carolina
Indianapolis at Green Bay
His team ended up losing this past Sunday, but Green Bay Packers quarterback
Aaron Rodgers might've looked the best he has all season in Green Bay's loss to Atlanta. He went 28 of 38 for 246 yards, and four touchdowns passing. His ability to scramble outside the pocket and deliver absolutely astounding throws, with incredible accuracy and velocity, makes him a nightmare to defend. With the emergence of wide receiver Davante Adams, and Jordy Nelson looking healthier each week, it will be very interesting to see how Rodgers progresses over the second half of the season.
Pick: Green Bay
Tennessee at San Diego
An interesting matchup of two teams who likely won't make the postseason in 2016, but seem to be right there knocking on the door. San Diego is 3-5 after splitting their home-and-home series against Denver last Sunday. While Tennessee picked up a much-needed division victory last weekend over the hapless Jaguars. Both teams have quarterbacks playing at an extremely high level, and deceptively strong defenses. This, very quietly, might be one of the more entertaining games of the weekend.
Pick: San Diego
Denver at Oakland
Derek Carr won't get to enjoy his 513-yard and four-touchdown performance last Sunday for very long. He delivered gorgeous throw after gorgeous throw to wide receivers Michael Crabtree and Amari Cooper — who, right now, might be the best pair of wide receivers in the NFL. However he'll now be facing what could be the toughest passing defense in the league. Cornerbacks Aqib Talib and Chris Harris Jr. of Denver are both playing at Pro Bowl level.
Pick: Oakland
Buffalo at Seattle
Simply put, this is a game that Seattle has to win if they truly see themselves as a true playoff contender. They're winless in their last two games (both played on the road), scoring a combined total of 26 points, and only one offensive touchdown. CenturyLink Field, where the Seahawks play, might be one of the most intimidating venues in the NFL for visiting teams, and Seattle needs to pick up a much-needed “get right” win against a quality team like Buffalo, if they want to get things back on the right foot.
Pick: Seattle
