Josh Gordon's NFL future was dealt a double whammy this week. The New England Patriots wide receiver announced via statement that he was taking time away from the gridiron to deal with his personal mental health issues.

Gordon lasted just 11 games with the Patriots until he was suspended. It's the third suspension of his NFL career.
Patriots Are NFL Reclamation Kings
During their run as the NFL's top franchise, the Patriots have employed a formula similar to what the Oakland Raiders established in the 1970s, serving as a last-chance saloon for many NFL players who looked to be out of options.
Just as the Raiders got mileage out of Ted Hendricks, Jim Plunkett, Lyle Alzado, and John Matuszak, the Patriots have gone through more retreads than a second-hand tire store.

Assuming it gets off the ground, the XFL might be the best bet here. Gordon would fit well with the image that Vince McMahon likes his rebel football league to project.
As for the NFL, they gave Gordon a get out of jail free card to resume his career this season, and he squandered it. It doesn't seem possible that he opens next season on an NFL roster.
